Godfall
A quick review
Godfall is a beautifully shallow 3rd person hack and slash looter that prides itself on its in-depth, rich and responsive combat system while simultaneously getting in its own way of success. What it lacks in variety it makes up for with its satisfying and brutally flashy combat, there is something really enjoyable about throwing your shield at an enemy to then follow up with a barrage of attacks as you watch the damage numbers fly off your opponent.
While there is a lot to be said about Godfall it’s very addicting watching those numbers go up as you fight your way through hundreds of enemies searching for the best loot possible.
There is a plethora of skills to unlock and a lot of stats to keep an eye on as you focus on your build.
Godfall is a surprisingly lonely online experience, with no online matchmaking it punishes you for not having friends to play with. It also limits the players exploration with questionable level design and traversal mechanics, there is no area map so you’ll have to be responsible for your own cartography which can be seen as a belling and a curse.
With all that being said Godfall boasts beautiful next gen graphics with a deep and well thought out battle system, linear level design focused on semi open world exploration and an engaging enough story to give your fighting purpose. There is lore hidden on item descriptions so do not forget to read about the new shiny item you’ve just picked up.
If I was to suggest this game to anyone it would be to those who enjoy online looter games with 0 micro transactions, it’s all in the numbers, watch your DPS go up as you level up, craft new sets of armour and maximise your build.
7.5/10
